  • Alleged incident occurred at the Harper's Bazaar party Wednesday night
  • Norville reportedly kicked the publicist because the woman was 'in her shot' while she was filming
  • The presenter displayed other erratic behavior and called celebrities the wrong names, Page Six reported
  • A source close to Norville described the claims as 'ridiculous'

Deborah Norville, the anchor of syndicated news magazine Inside Edition, allegedly kicked a publicist at a star-studded Fashion Week event in New York on Wednesday night.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Harper's Bazaar second annual 'Icons' Portfolio party at The Plaza Hotel.

Norville, who celebrated 20 years at Inside Edition this year, was interviewing the celebrity arrivals on the red carpet and is said to have become angered at the people who were walking through her shot while filming.

Page Six is reporting that, after repeated interruptions, the mother-of-three snapped at a publicist.

A source told the gossip column: 'A publicist walked through her shot while she was talking to (French designer) Jean-Paul Goude.

'Deborah took out all her anger.

'She kicked the woman, hard, all while continuing to smile for the camera and ask questions.'

The publicist has not been named.

However the erratic behavior did not end there, according to the column, which said Norville caused a scene trying to 'hijack interviews' by 'jumping in front of other reporters.

'A celeb would be going to talk to someone and (Norville) would just bust in, ''I’m Deborah Norville!'' ' the source said.

'You’d think it was the Oscars . . . or The Hunger Games.

'(She was) practically tackling celebrities.'

Norville also reportedly made a series of embarrassing gaffes.

She shouted 'Willow!' at Jaden Smith, which is the name of the actor's sister.

Page Six said she also mistook Julia Restoin Roitfeld for her mother, Bazaar global fashion director Carine Roitfeld, who was one of the event’s hosts.

The Daily Mail reached out to Inside Edition about the incident.

A spokeswoman said: 'Thank you for your inquiry, but we have no comment.'

Norville was not working for Inside Edition at the party but a private sponsor.

Before attending the event, Norville posted a picture of herself to Facebook signalling that she will be 'talking to some of the biggest names in fashion'.

A source close to Norville described the claims as 'ridiculous'.

'Deboroah is a pro and would never do this,' the source said.

'She has been reporting on red capets for over 20 years with no complaints.

'There is no reason for her to act like this - it goes against her nature.'
