The three-time former ABA heavyweight champion once again plugged the flick to his 167 thousand-strong Twitter following, with the Everton supporter playing Michael B Jordan's English opponent, 'Pretty' Ricky Conlan.

Jordan, who also featured alongside Zac Efron and Miles Teller in 2014 movie, 'That Awkward Moment', plays Rocky Balboa's former fictional opponent Apollo Creed's son, Adonis Johnson.

The plot develops as Johnson never knew his famous father who had been world heavyweight champion (originally played by Carl Weathers) but there's no denying that fighting is in his blood so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed's legendary match with tough upstart, Balboa.

After having to convince Rocky to be his trainer, the pair become close, given that Rocky sees in Adonis the determination and ability he had known in Apollo - the fierce rival who became his closest friend.

With Rocky in his corner, Adonis gets his own shot at the title, as the film tracks his emotional journey in developing the passion of a true fighter.

'Creed,' which also stars 'Selma' actress Tessa Thompson as Bianca, had it's first scene filmed at half-time during Everton's January 19 football match against West Bromwich Albion, at Goodison Park.

Like Bellew, Stallone claims to be an Everton fan having attended the club's draw with Reading in January 2007.
