Gareth Bale was spotted leaving a Madrid restaurant after enjoying lunch with girlfriend Emma Rhys-Jones on Sunday.

The Wales star joined his girlfriend 24 hours after Real Madrid's 6-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday, during which team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals.

The Welshman then returned to first-team training on Monday as Rafa Benitez's side prepare to host Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The couple were joined by Emma's sister Charlotte and were spotted leaving a restaurant in Madrid after enjoying lunch together on Sunday afternoon.

Bale was seen to be in high spirits when he returned to Real Madrid's first-team training session on Monday ahead of their Champions League opener at home to Shakhtar on Tuesday.

The squad were all smiles as they prepared for the game on the back of two rampant victories in their last two La Liga outings.

The aggregate scoreline in their last two games is 11-0, with star player Cristiano Ronaldo bagging five in the 6-0 demolition of Espanyol at the weekend, surpassing club legend Raul's long-held top-flight goalscoring record.

Bale, with two goals and three assists so far this season, has said he feels 'more involved' under new manager Rafa Benitez. 

'I feel like I am more involved this year now,' the 26-year-old said.

'The first year you are running off adrenaline from having just signed - you are so happy to be at the club and that drives you on.
