What a Shame! X-Men star Michael Fassbender 'splits' from actress girlfriend Alicia Vikander after nine months

It is the sort of news that is sure to make his army of female admirers shed crocodile tears.

For X-Men hunk Michael Fassbender has reportedly split from his actress girlfriend Alicia Vikander after less than a year together.

The Irish beefcake had been dating the 26-year-old saucy Swede since they met on the set of The Light Between Oceans, and were even spotted looking blissfully happy as recently as the Monaco Grand Prix in May.

However things seem to have soured since then, and they have now decided to bring their nine-month dalliance to an end, according to Us Weekly

Michael, 38, has a history of dating his co-stars, and from 2010 to 2011 was in a relationship with his considerably younger X-Men: First Class costar Zoe Kravitz.

The German-born heartthrob later dated Shame co-star Nicole Beharie from 2012 to 2013.

Ironically the actor, who is worth an estimated $30 million, has whined in the past that his profession makes it hard for him to find love.

He told GQ: 'I'm kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work.

'I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years... I started doing this when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it.'

But the sly bounder did admit there are certain fringe benefits with being a Hollywood A-lister.

He sagely noted: 'You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl.

'She's all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would’ve walked away after two sentences left my mouth.'
