A Baltimore City high school student has been charged with attempted murder as an adult after a shocking video surfaced online showing him savagely beating a classmate in the school cafeteria.

The fight broke out between the two males at Frederick Douglass High School at lunch on Wednesday and video of the brawl was uploaded toFacebook.

The aggressor can be seen in the confronting 30-second footage repeatedly punching the other student in the face before brutally stomping on his head.

The cell phone video of the attack finishes with the victim lying on the floor bleeding and having a seizure.

The victim suffered multiple head and face injuries and a concussion.

He remains hospitalized in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Sean Johnson, 17, was charged as adult in the attack, according to the newspaper.

Johnson faces multiple charges, including first- and second-degree attempted murder and assault.

The fight erupted after Johnson approached the victim in the cafeteria to ask if he stole his visor from his football helmet, according to charging documents.

The victim said he didn't and Johnson lashed out.

He began 'hitting [him] in the face causing him to fall to the floor unconscious', according to the charging documents.

A police officer stationed at the school wrote in the documents that the victim was having a seizure after the assault.

He regained consciousness but was unresponsive when taken to hospital.

The victim has not been named.

The school released about the incident, saying it took place in the cafeteria about 12 p.m. Wednesday. 

'School staff on duty in the cafeteria immediately intervened to break up the altercation,' part of the statement said.

'The injured student was transferred to Shock Trauma. 

'The suspect was taken into custody by Baltimore City School Police and transported to the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS).'

The statement continued: 'School police have been notified by the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office that the suspect was transferred overnight from DJS to the Central Booking Intake Facility and has been charged as an adult with attempted murder. 

'The investigation is ongoing.'
