'We can renegotiate if you decide you would rather be my child again': Mother's hilarious letter to 13-year-old son saying he can do what he wants but only if he pays rent and bills

A mother has named and shamed her son on the internet and warned him that he must pay half of the bills unless he does what he is told. 

The youngster, who is known only as Aaron, was told that he faces 'greater consequences' for treating his mother as a 'doormat'. 

The mother, who used the name Estella Havisham, took photographs of the messages she wrote her son and broadcast them on the internet for her friends and family.

Unfortunately, she clicked that the messages could be viewed by anybody and the exchange has gone viral. 

Ms Havisham warned her 13-year-old son that unless he acted more like her son she would charge him for his lodgings, board, food and even for a maid service. 

She accused the youngster of lying to her.

She said: 'Dear Aaron, 

'Since you seem to have forgotten that you are only 13 and I’m the parent, and that you won’t be controlled, I guess you will need to learn a lesson in independence. 

'Also, as you threw in my face that you are making money now, it will be easier to buy back all the items I bought for you in the past.

'If you would like your lamp/lightbulbs or access to the internet, you will need to pay your share of costs:

Rent: $430

Electricity: $116

Internet: $21

Food: $150

'Also you will need to empty the trash Mon, Wed & Friday as well as sweep and vacuum those days. You will need to keep your bathroom clean weekly, prepare your own meals and clean up after yourself. 

'If you fail to do so I will charge you a $30 maid fee for every day I have to do it.

'If you decide you would rather be MY CHILD again instead of a roommate, we can negotiate terms.

'Love,

'Mom.'

The mother only intended to humiliate her son in front of her Facebook friends and family, however she did not enhance her privacy settings so the message was available to anybody with an internet connection. 

Soon, the update received 85,000 likes and was shared more than 160,000 times. 

After the initial post went viral, the mother photographed a second message to explain the reasons behind her decision to expose him online. 

However, within hours of her post, people took to the internet to comment, forcing her to defend her decision.   

'Let's get serious! I am not going to put my 13 year old on the street if he can't pay his half of the rent. I am not wanting him to pay anything. 

'I want him to take pride in his home, his space, and appreciate the gifts and blessings we have. I wrote him a “bill” to make a point. Nothing comes free.'
