She is an animal lover who loves nothing more than raising awareness for the many exotic species which populate Australia.

And on Friday Bindi Irwin wore yet another animal themed T-shirt to her DWTS rehearsal - this time featuring a Tasmanian Devil.

The 17-year-old was all smiles as she headed into a dancing session with partner Derek Hough ahead of her second week on ABC's hit reality show.

The teen wildlife conservationist teamed her T-shirt with three-quarter length black yoga pants and mustard sneakers and she carried a pair of tan dance shoes.

She arrived with her mother Terri Irwin as usual and both were all smiles as they chatted with security before heading into the dance studio.

Derek turned up in a light blue plaid shirt, jeans and sneakers ready to rock.

Dance teacher: Bindi's partner is Derek Hough and the pair are presently tied for first place with a perfect score from week one of the hit show

Their closest rivals are Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and partner Sharna Burgess.

In week one, Nick and Sharna's cha-cha-cha to Flo-Rida's I Don't Like It, I Love It tied with Bindi and Derek's Jive to Elton John's Crocodile Rock - a sentimental choice for the daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin who died in September 2006.

Both couples scored 8s across the board, giving them a week one tying best score of 24.

Going into week two, the theme of Monday's episode is Hometown Glory night, according to E! Each couple will dance two new styles to songs that remind the celebrity and pro of the places that shaped them.

Bindi revealed she and Derek would dance to an as-yet-unnamed heavy rock song in a heart-warming interview that E! posted.

Describing her dad's Australia Zoo, an hour's drive from Brisbane in Queensland, as her home, she said: 'We were washing dads ute [truck[ and he said, "Ya know what, we just need to dance."

They got the colour message: Both wore black with Tamar in a romper and Val in a hoodie and Nike pants

Phew, what a scorcher! The hunky Ukrainian-American peeled off his shirt to reveal his perfect pecs during a rehearsal break

'So he turned up the radio so loud and it was this real heavy rock song and ...we all got onto the back of the ute and we were rocking out and dancing and yelling. And I was so little then and I was so happy.

'People will listen to these really fun songs and think they are great and they're exciting.

'But for me they are actually quite emotional and wonderful because they bring back many, many memories.'
