The veteran TV star - also known for playing the lead in Frost and Darling Buds Of May - was spotted in the market town, where he ditched his overalls for a suit.

Looking dapper, the actor was all smiles as he performed what appeared to be a wedding scene.

Seeming to be sporting dentures, he looked considerably older than his years - especially with a flash of balding, silver hair.

Taking the weight off his feet, he could be seen sat in the fast-food vehicle - which was being driven by one of his co-stars.

Boasting a sign which read 'Happy Won Ton Take-Away', it was a curious scene.

Featuring a huge artificial sunflower, David and his colleagues certainly commanded attention as he cruised through the Yorkshire town.

Also on the set was Merseyside-born star Johnny Vegas, who was equally sharp-suited.

Enjoying a cup of tea between scenes, he seemed to be effortlessly in character as the long-suffering Wet Eric.

Fellow TV actor Tim Healy was also seen alongside Jason, wearing blue overalls and cutting an ageing figure.

But there was no sign of fatigue in the show's leading man, who was on form.

Inbetween takes, the actor was seen wearing a battered fireman's helmet and cracking jokes with crew, who were setting up the scenes.

In fact, he seemed to keep everybody perked-up.

The latter three were original cast-members.

Executive Producer Gareth Edwards says: 'It‘s wonderful to be returning with our fantastic cast to Granville’s daft, warm and life-affirming world, full of the kind of characters and situations that could only come from the remarkable mind of Roy Clarke.'
