And there's no need for oil or to do loads of washing up if you use this technique.

A video by Allrecipes suggests that the best way to prepare this breakfast meal is to place all your ingredients in a freezer or sandwich bag, and cook it in a pot of boiling water.

First you need to crack two eggs into a large freezer or sandwich bag.

‘These omelettes in a bag are perfect for camping, family reunions or a kid’s sleepover,’ the narrator says in the video.

Next, press out most of the air from the bag and seal. Then shake or squeeze the bag to beat the eggs,’ she instructs.

Once that is done, you have to open the bag and add in your favourite omelette ingredients.

In the video they use two slices of diced ham, half a cup of shredded cheese, one tablespoon of chopped onion, one tablespoon of green pepper, two tablespoons of chopped and seeded tomato, two chopped or sliced mushrooms and one tablespoon of chunky salsa.

Once these have been added, squeeze out the air and seal the bag again before gently turning it to incorporate the ingredients.

To cook the omelette you are instructed to bring a large pot of water to the boil. Then place the bag – with the omelette ingredients in it – into the pot of water.

‘You can place up to eight bags in the water at the same time,’ the narrator says

Cook for 13 minutes, turning the egg-in-bags around gently with a pair of tongs. Then carefully open the bag and roll the omelette out onto a plate.

‘If your omelette mixings are high in water content then you might need to drain off the liquid from inside the bag before rolling the omelette out onto your plate,’ she says.

The video ends with a shot of the omelette and the narrator concluding with ‘Now, wasn’t that easy? A perfect breakfast and clean-up is a breeze.'
