David Beckham suits up for whisky launch in Miami as he insists his venture into acting is 'just for fun and definitely not my new career'

He retired from football in 2013, but since hanging up his boots David Beckham has branched out into a number of new ventures.

On Wednesday the star headed to Miami to host a star-studded event for Haig Club Single Grain Scotch Whisky.

David, 40, collaborated on the whiskey with his long-time friend and entrepreneur Simon Fuller, with the dapper gents welcoming some distinguished guests to their pop-up event.

The event marks the second in a series of pop-up experiences in stylish cities around the globe where Haig Club is served, with the brand taking over a stunning Miami estate this time around.

The event series which began in London last March at the Wellington Arch will move to Shanghai in 2016.

For the Miami launch David looked as stylish as ever as he suited up in a classic two-piece for his big night.

David previously teamed up with his close friend Guy Ritchie on a commercial for Haig, and since then it's seemed the former sportsman has got the acting bug.

This year the father of four bagged a cameo in Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E, while he's also set to star in his pal's forthcoming production of King Arthur.

The British film director told Access Hollywood of David's part in Man From U.N.C.L.E.: 'He's in the film. He's in there... He's marginally disguised, but he's in the movie. I mean, once you know who it is, you'll know who it is!'

Despite dipping his toe into Hollywood, David has told Mr Porter in a new interview that he's not looking for a career in acting.

'I saw an article the other day that said this is my new career, and it's really not,' he explained. 'It's something that I've dipped myself into from time to time, but I only did it for a friend, Guy'

'I did a small bit in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and I've done little bit more for him in [Knights of the Roundtable:] King Arthur, and then obviously there's what we've done with the Outlaws. But it's definitely not my new career, it's just fun, it's not something that I'm training to be better at.'

Since his retirement from the pitch, David has kept busy with family life and a number of projects including his plan to start a major league soccer team in Miami.

He has admitted to Mr Porter though that his 'main focus' is 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund, a charity initiative that grew out of his years of work for UNICEF, and focuses on projects in seven global areas where life is especially difficult for children.

He recently traveled to Cambodia to meet with children, as part of his latest initiative, which has seen him champion a letter signed by 18 child survivors of violence that calls on world leaders to end the widespread abuse that affects millions of children around the world.

One of the signatories is a 16-year-old boy from Cambodia, where he travelled earlier this year.

'When I visited Cambodia with UNICEF earlier this year, I spent time with children and young people who have experienced terrible violence and abuse often at the hands of the people who were supposed to protect them.'

'Their stories were deeply distressing and as a father it is devastating to think that any child should have to suffer like this,' he said in a statement.
