You're bacon me crazy! New dating app connects meat lovers with ‘crispy’, ‘chewy’ or ‘burnt’ preferences

  • Dating app Sizzl allows users to create a profile that answers burning questions about how they like their bacon
  • The free app works by tracking other local bacon lovers via GPS and allowing daters to rate each other 'low', 'medium' or 'hot'
  • The bacon craze has infiltrated food and fashion, with celebrities including Cara Delevigne publicly declaring their love for the breakfast staple

The bacon craze is everywhere in food and fashion, from chocolate bars to body wash - and celebrities including Cara Delevigne even tattooing the breakfast staple onto their bodies - now the fatty food has found its way into the world of online dating.

Oscar Mayer has released Sizzl, a dating app to help bacon lovers connect and select a soulmate based on whether they like their breakfast staple 'chewy', 'crispy' or 'burnt', according to Time

The free iOS app allows users to create a profile that answers questions such as 'What kind of bacon do you love the most?', and answers such as 'pork', 'turkey' or 'both' help meat lovers decide who they want to meet.

Another question gets more in-depth by asking what type of bacon the dater prefers: Possible responses offered are 'Hardwood smoked for a really long time', 'thick cut, because more is more' and 'maple and sweet like me'.

Other queries probe the dater’s philosophy when it comes to sharing: If they are on a date and only have one strip of bacon left, do they 'take it', 'generously give it away', or 'split it'?

The app uses GPS to find other app users locally or nationwide, and similar to the way Tinder works, users 'like' photos they find smoking hot.

To indicate interest, potential daters press on a profile they like and hold it down. The longer they hold, the higher the 'sizzle' factor - they can be rated as 'low', 'medium' or 'hot'.

As with Tinder, if both 'like' each other’s profiles, they are directed to a messaging platform where they can get to know one another.

Ms Delevigne is currently in a relationship with singer St Vincent, but the app could potentially help her fellow fans of the pork product connect and find love in future.

For now, the app is only available on iPhone - and will be available to download for the next six months.

The site also offers advice for daters who may be brokenhearted after learning that their crush does not share their love of bacon.

'First off, we’re very sorry you had to deal with this,' they said. 'You can tap the three dots on their profile and report them by selecting “Doesn’t love bacon.”'
