Golden girls! Models invoke Ancient Egypt and the disco era for The Blonds glittering New York Fashion Week show
Models were dripping in gold as they strutted down the catwalk at The Blonds Egyptian-inspired show on Thursday night during New York Fashion Week.
David and Phillipe Blond, the design duo behind the brand, looked towards the Sphinx and the disco era while designing the sparkling collection featuring gold crystals, sequins, and embroidered feathers.
'We got inspired by all of these different ancient Egyptian burial practices as a starting off point and then we had disco on the brain,' David told Daily Mail Online of the glamorous show.
Phillipe opened the show in crystal encrusted bodysuit featuring gold feathers and matching Christian Louboutin stilettos - but the glitz didn't end there.
Other showstopping looks include a motorcycle jacket featuring gold and crystal detail paired with a plunging one-piece and an electric blue halter dress covered in spikes and gold chain piping.
The designers explained that they were looking to translate the sand and the pyramids found in Egypt in a modern way.
'There has been so many films made about [Cleopatra] and we have always been fans of that type of old Hollywood glamour - the Golden Age,' David noted. 'It all ties in together.'

Phillipe and David Blond were inspired by the pyramids and sand found in ancient Egypt when they were designing their sparkling Spring 2016 collection
The show featured numerous gold looks, however, the designers incorporated pops of color, including this electric blue corset dress featuring gold chain piping
In addition to being inspired by the Sphinx, David said they also had 'disco on the brain'
The Blonds paired a crystal embroidered halter top with gold pants featuring hand cut feathers
The collection also included onyx pieces such as a black motorcycle jacket (left) and a shear black dress (right)
With the exception of Phillipe, all the models donned platinum blonde pigtails and exaggerated cat eyes. 'For us it's from head to toe. We don't just do a no make-up look - we have to go all of the way,' David explained
