Jill Duggar and husband Derrick share exciting baby news - she has become a certified midwife 

  • Derrick Dillard announced on his family blog Friday that his wife Jill had become a certified midwife 
  • 'I am so proud of her for her diligence, perseverance, and hard work to see this long road through to its end and reaching her goal,' wrote Derrick
  • Derrick also shared a photo of him and Jill with their son Israel standing in front of a sign celebrating her accomplishment 
  • The couple plan to use Jill's new skill when they do mission work in the future 
  • This is a bright spot for the family after months of scandal involving oldest son Josh

Jill Duggar and her husband Derrick just shared some exciting baby news.

The two are not expecting a new child, but it appears Jill will be out helping other who are she she had just become a certified midwife.

Derrick shared the news on their family blog Friday afternoon.

'I am so proud of her for her diligence, perseverance, and hard work to see this long road through to its end and reaching her goal of becoming a CPM,' wrote Derrick about his wife on their blog. 

'The whole process, including various course work, lots of studying, tests, research, clinicals, sleepless nights with long labors, being on call for multiple births at a time, and the comprehensive test for full certification as a CPM, has finally culminated this week. 

'This will be especially helpful on the mission field. The light at the end of the tunnel was always there, but we just hadn’t seen it until recently.

Derrick then added; 'And if anybody knows how much hard work it has been for her, it’s me. Jill has been very disciplined and sacrificed a lot to get to this point. 

'So much so, that I don’t have the capacity within this brief blog post to give all the details to do it justice.'

The family also shared a picture of Derrick, Jill and baby I*srael next to a sign that read; 'Congrats Jill! Soooo excited for you! Great job!'

Jill's siblings seemed excited about this announcement as well, with sister Jessa writing on Twitter; 'Congrats to my sister!'

The news provides a much needed positive moment for the family after months of scandal all involving son Josh.

In May it was revealed he had molested five minors as a teenager - including four of his sisters - which ultimately led to the cancellation of their reality show 19 Kids and Counting.

Then in August it was revealed Josh had multiple Ashley Madison accounts that he had been using while married to his wife and the moth of his four children Anna.

He entered a faith-based rehab program soon after, and since then two women have come forward claiming they had sexual relations with Josh.
