Mummy's little helper! Pregnant Kelis promotes new book with her son Knight as she goes casual in joggers and trainers

She's currently away from home and on the road promoting her first cookbook, My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around The World.

But joined by the best tour buddy ever, Kelis was pictured with her son Knight, six, on Thursday as she headed to the BBC studios in London for an interview.

Journeying along hand in hand, the pregnant singer, 36, opted to go casual as her little boy flashed his milky whites for photographers.

Rocking a laid back ensemble, Kelis donned a trench coat with a black top and printed joggers.

Going for the ultimate comfort, the 36-year-old wore a pair of high top trainers as she hide her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Knight, who is the singer's only child for her former husband rapper Nas, wore a brown leather jacket with a T-shirt, jeans and black trainers.

During a television appearance on Wednesday Kelis spoke about how is finding the balance between being an artist and chef.

Admitting that she picked up cooking as a release when she was struggling to focus on music, she told the BBC: 'I mean I'm still performing you know I think it's just the fact that I'm at the point where I've been, gosh it's been over 15 years now that I've been performing and singing, and so now this is just like another outlet for me and something else I can do an enjoy.'

The singer also revealed that her frustrations that led her to start cooking were more to do with the business side of things as opposed to recording.

Kelis asserted: 'It was never music, it was the business itself I think that became a bit exhausting.

'I think after 10 years of consistently only doing that [music] there was a moment where I needed to step back and just take a deep breath, and reassess everything that was happening.'

The Caught Out There hitmaker also spoke about her experience of cookery school and described it as 'one of the best decisions' she's ever made.

She gushed about studying: 'It was amazing you know, we appreciate school so much more as adults I think it's like you're the one paying for like I actually have to pass, I've gotta do well!

'It was amazing though, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was great I had a wonderful time.'
