Gisele Bundchen is the world's highest-paid model for the NINTH year running (despite retiring in April), with Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss amongst top-earning Brits

Gisele Bundchen has topped Forbes' list of highest-paid supermodels for the ninth year running. 

The Brazilian beauty, 35, earned $44 million (£28.3m) over the past year - $35 million (£22.5m) more than the second top-earning runway stars Cara Delevingne and Adriana Lima.

The mother-of-two's impressive pre-tax earnings were credited to high-profile modelling campaigns for the likes of Under Armour, Isabel Marant, Chanel, Stuart Weiztman and Balenciaga.

Forbes estimates that contrary to Nineties supermodel Linda Evangelista's famous statement that she wouldn't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day, Gisele does not get out of bed for less than $120,547 a day. 

The news comes despite Gisele announcing in April that she was quitting modelling. 

In April she wrote on her Instagram page: 'I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey.

'Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business.'

Explaining why she decided to stop - despite being at the top of her game - she added: 'Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. 

'I respect my body, it's a privilege to be able to stop.'

Forbes calculated each model's earnings from June 2014 to June 2015 taking into account income from cosmetics, endorsements, advertising and fragrance deals

And a host of famous faces could topple Gisele from the top spot in the future.  

This year saw Kim Kardashian's little sister Kendall Jenner make her first appearance on the list. 

The 19-year-old saw her bank balance rise to $4 million (£2,573,754) thanks to high-profile work with Givenchy, Fendi, Calvin Klein, Topshop and Balmain.

In third place was Dutch model Doutzen Kroes. 

The 30-year-old racked up $7.5 million (£4,826,099) through deals with H&M and L'Oreal. 

High-earning beauties also featured on the Forbes list include Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, 33, in fourth with $7 million (£4,505,345) and joint fifth is Miranda Kerr, 32, and 27-year-old Joan Smalls, each on $5.5 million (£3,539,139).

Flying the flag for Britain alongside Cara Delevingne included Kate Moss, 41, who is said to have racked up $4.5 million (£2,895,659) while Jourdan Dunn, 25, earned $3.5 million (£2,252,034). 

Victoria's Secret Angels dominated the rest of the list with Brazilian Alessandra Ambrosio, 34, Taylor Swift's pal Karlie Kloss, 23, and South African stunner Candice Swanepoel, 26, each on $5 million (£3,217,399). 

Former Sports Illustrated star Carolyn Murphy, 41, Chinese model Liu Wen, 27, and the face of Lancome Daria Werbowy, 31, earned  $4.5 million (£2,895,659).

While at the bottom of the list was Estee Lauder campaign star Hilary Rhoda, 28, Vogue cover girl Kate Upton, 23, Polish model Anja Rubik, 32, and swimwear stunner Edita Vilkeviciute, 26 - all on $3.5 million (£2,252,034). 

The total list value tots up to an eye-watering $147 million (£94,565,689)
