She is perhaps best known for her sexy getups on the red carpet and also in films such as Captain America, where she wears a leather cat suit to play Black Widow.

So it was a bit of a surprise to see Hollywood siren Scarlett Johansson so dressed down when strolling with a female friend in New York City on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old mother-of-one did her best to show off her curves, however, in her carefree ensemble.

Scarlet Johansson certainly knows how to throw off the paparazzi. The usually glam beauty walked around NYC in high waisted jeans, grey t, hat, sunnies and unusually responsible footwear from Birkenstock.

The so called “camping” or “sporty” sandals are one of this season’s hottest micro trends. Spotted on the runways at Burberry, Antipodium and Christopher Raeburn, they’re the fashionistas choice of ugly sandals.

And for the budget conscious fashionistas amongst us, these 'Rio' Birkenstocks are an affordable $89.95! While ScarJo's outfit is a bit pedestrian for us, we think mixing in some luxe pieces like a floral midi skirt from Milly and an off shoulder top from Stella McCartney would totally turn these sandals into a haute item.

Oddly the jeans looked plucked from a farmer's closet rather than a swanky boutique as the pockets were unfashionably large and the legs unusually wide.

Johnasson added extra country appeal by rolling up the bottoms.

Dark sunglasses helped the Horse Whisperer darling go even more incognito.

Her redheaded pal looked even more stylish in a country flower print yellow top, baggy jeans and yellow flats, though a plaid purse seemed out of place.

The pals were walking outside the Metropolitan Museum Of Art on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
