Hunky: Chris Hemsworth is featured predominantly in the trailer for upcoming flick In The Heart Of The Sea released on Thursday
He plays first mate Owen Chase in the biographical film centred around the legendary events involving The Essex whaleship crews encounter with an enraged bull sperm whale in the 1820s.
The trailer begins with majestic shots of ocean views of the ocean, short clips of Owen's nautical adventures with his crew and touching scenes with his wife Peggy, played by Charlotte Riley. The 32-year-old actress is married to Tom Hardy.
Peggy expresses her concern over marrying a whaleman as she says to her man: 'Promise me, just come back.'
Ladylove: The 32-year-old actor could be seen getting intimate with co-star Charlotte Riley in a few of the opening scenes shown in the trailer
Float on: As Chris plays First Mate of The Essex, an American whaleship. a few cuts of their nautical adventures were also shown
Hard times: The 32-year-old actress plays Owen's wife Peggy who expresses concern over marrying a whaleman as she said to him: 'Promise me, just come back'
Owen promises then the scene of the large predatory mammal's attack on their ship is shown as his crew and their vessel is completely ravaged.
Text through the jarring cuts reads: 'This December experience the true encounter that inspired the myth Moby Dick.'
Owen is then shown floating in the ocean after the attack with the voiceover querying: 'Look where we find ourselves, what offense that we give God to upset him so?'
Uh-oh: After he makes the promise a seen is shown of Owen preparing his crew as they heard a rather unusual noise
Thar she blows: A massive bull sperm whale, who is the inspiration for classic mythical chracter Moby Dick, is then shown
Ravaged: The angry predatory animal attacks the ship and crew
That did not seem to be the only encounter with the creature who inspired Moby Dick as several other scenes of attacks were shown including the crew trying to fight back.
In the end Owen tells himself that 'It's just a whale,' as the one of the creature's eyes could be seen floating just above the water with a piece of a shrapnel in it's skin right next to it.
A bearded and bedraggled Owen could be seen looking in disbelief with his chapped lips quivering as he holds on to a harpoon.
It seems as if the film may get a whole lot darker as the non-fiction book of the same name written by Nathaniel Philbrick, released in 2000, documents the crew being forced to resort to cannibalism after sailing to South America.
Lucky to be alive: Owen washes ashore as he queries in a voiceover : 'Look where we find ourselves, what offense that we give God to upset him so?'
The beast: At one point toward the end of the clip, the whale's eye could be seen just over the water with a wound in clear site
