SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Rachel Hunter models a (serial) killer look

Models will always go to great lengths to keep their looks, but New Zealand blonde Rachel Hunter has just raised the stakes with a truly bizarre skin treatment.

The 46-year-old shared this picture on Instagram in which she wears a metallic mask that makes her look like something out of Silence Of The Lambs.

'This 24-carat gold mask is one of the world's most luxurious spa experiences,' explains rocker Rod Stewart's ex-wife, who is staying in Dubai.

'So lucky skin felt amazing after . . . I felt like I had gone to another world! Magical experience.'

The treatment costs £4,500 and the mask works, apparently, by 'regenerating firm skin cells and providing a tightening effect'.

The spa's website also states: 'If your bank balance won't thank you for the decadent splurge, Cleopatra-style, your fresh and rejuvenated skin will.'

At that price, you would certainly hope so.

Much-married Bean's a grandad

Marital happiness has so far eluded Sean Bean, who has been divorced four times.

But the 56-year-old star of The Lord Of The Rings has cause for a family celebration, as he has become a grandfather for the first time.

I learn his middle daughter Molly, 24, gave birth to a boy by her husband of a year, Bernard Harding-Martin.

Bean is the father of three girls, Molly and Lorna, 27, both by his second ex-wife, Coronation Street's Melanie Hill, and Evie, 17, by third ex-wife, actress Abigail Cruttenden.

The actor is now reportedly engaged to 29-year-old Ashley Moore, so he knows better than anyone that marriage is a triumph of hope over experience.

Jeremy Irons has always had an eye for the ladies, despite being married to actress Sinead Cusack for 35 years.

So no wonder he expressed regret at the Toronto Film Festival over his recently finished TV show The Borgias, in which he played Pope Alexander VI.

'Sexual proclivity was fairly wide at the Vatican,' he said, 'but we did a rather pathetic orgy scene as the actual orgies we couldn't really do on cable television. They took place inside the Vatican with courtesans and raisins featuring strongly.' Raisins?

Labour's new vegan minister gets veg bouquet

Kerry McCarthy, the new shadow rural affairs minister, may wish she could eat her words after she admitted she has no idea what Labour's economic policies are.

At least the vegan animal rights activist can eat the bouquet she received yesterday to congratulate her on the new role.

A gift she can eat: Kerry McCarthy (left), the new shadow rural affairs minister, was sent an edible bouquet made from vegetables by Peta because she 'truly cares about animal suffering'

Peta, the strident pressure group known for its anti-fur campaign starring naked supermodels, sent the Bristol East MP an edible bouquet made from vegetables because she 'truly cares about animal suffering'.

Perhaps McCarthy will invite vegetarian comrade Jeremy Corbyn round to share a hearty meat-free stew.
