It was an evening even James Bond would have enjoyed.

Former 007 star Pierce Brosnan was the picture of cool contentment as he hit up Italian eatery Giogrio Baldi in Santa Monica, California with his wife Keely Shaye Smith and The Hangover star Ed Helms and his date.

The group was still having a good time by the looks of them as they spilled into the valet car park after their Thursday evening meal.

Pierce smiled broadly while giving Ed a big man hug in front of the car.

The Irish actor's lovely wife Keely was also happy, smiling and waving at fans.

A blonde companion, who was possibly Ed's date, strolled along with the group while clad in skinny black jeans and white blouse.

After 14 blissful years of marriage Pierce is still absolutely besotted with his wife Keely, 51.

And the 62-year-old actor certainly looked in love during their fun evening out at the popular and celebrity friendly Italian restaurant.

Pierce followed his wife as they navigated their way to their waiting car.

The couple coordinated their outfits with both of them opting for all-black ensembles for their fancy meal out.

Pierce looked devilishly handsome in a laid-back outfit which consisted of a knit shirt, jeans, leather jacket and pumps.

Keely made much more of an effort and was dolled up in a little black dress which she wore beneath a heavy long-length blazer.

She rounded off her evening look with a beaded necklace and sling back leather sandals.

The mum-of-two appeared to be in good spirits as they left the high-end Italian eatery and Pierce's mood was jovial as he shared a warm embrace with his friend by the side of their car.

Pierce married Keely in 2001, 10 years after his first wife, Cassandra Harris, passed away at age 43 following a battle with ovarian cancer.

Years later and the star is still in awe of his wife's strength and support for him, gushing about her in a March interview with the Independent.

'I love her vitality, her passion,' he said. 'She has this strength that I wouldn't be able to live without. When Keely looks at me, I go weak.'

The couple have two children together, sons 13-year-old Paris and 18-year-old Dylan, the latter of whom recently made his debut as a model for Saint Laurent.

Pierce is also father to sons Sean and Christopher from his first marriage to Cassandra, while their daughter Charlotte tragically died in 2013 of ovarian cancer, the same disease that killed her mother, aged just 42.
