Erin Brokovich lists the luxury Californian home she bought with her lawsuit payout - complete with TWO-FLOOR closet and palm-fringed pool - for $2.35million

  • Brockovich bought the six-bedroom, six-bathroom, Hinkley, California, home for $900,000 in 1997
  • She had just received a $2million bonus in the settlement in a lawsuit against PG&E, which had allegedly contaminated California drinking water
  • Hollywood recreated the former legal assistant's story in a blockbuster film featuring Julia Roberts in 2000

Erin Brockovich, the woman best known for the Oscar-winning Julia Roberts film bearing her name, has listed her 5,000-square-foot home for $2.35million.

Brockovich bought the six-bedroom, six-bathroom home for $900,000 in 1997 after leading a lawsuit against Pacific Gas and Electric Company for allegedly contaminating California drinking water.

The former legal assistant Hinkley, California, estate, listed by Alan Bess of Engel & Volkers Beverly Hills, is vastly different from where she was living when she was trying to make ends meet as a single mother of three before the lawsuit.

After buying the home with part of the $2million bonus in the settlement against PG&E, Hollywood recreated the tough beauty queen's story - highlighting her confidence and ample cleavage - in a blockbuster film featuring Julia Roberts in 2000.

The activist has showcased her flamboyant style with chandeliers, flashy prints and a two-level closet that features a center island and an entire wall of shoes, according to Zillow

In the backyard, her estate has a palm tree-lined pool that overlooks mountains.

Brockovich made headlines earlier this month when she accused the US Environmental Protection Agency of lying about how much toxic wastewater spilled from a Colorado mine and fouled rivers in three Western states.

Her allegation came on September 8 during a visit to the nation's largest American Indian reservation.

At the reservation she saw the damage and met with Navajo Nation leaders and farmers affected by last month's spill, which was triggered by an EPA crew during excavation work.

Brockovich said she was shocked by the agency's actions leading up to the release of waste tainted with heavy metals and its response afterward.

The agency initially pegged the spill at 1 million gallons but later said it was likely three times that amount given the readings of stream gauges that recorded a spike in river flows.
