Liam Neeson's Taken movies will be turned into a TV series for NBC with the focus on a young Bryan Mills
Liam Neeson's Taken films have been a very successful action franchise on the big screen.
And now that storyline will be taken to the small screen, according to a Friday report from Deadline.
NBC has ordered a TV series which will be a prequel to the movies. The show will follow a young Bryan Mills 'as he acquires the very skills he uses to save his future daughter,' according to the site.

In the films Neeson plays Bryan, a former government operative, who goes on a mission to save his kidnapped daughter Kim, played by Maggie Grace.
It is not known who will play a young Mills and a showrunner has not yet been attached to the show.
The series will be set in the present day, rather than decades in the past.

Luc Besson, who co-wrote the Taken script, will executive-produce.
The thriller debuted in 2008 with Neeson, Famke Janssen and Grace.
The sequels came out in 2012 with another one debuting earlier this year.

The first Taken film made $226m worldwide. In the US it took in $145m with another $81m from overseas.
Taken 2 brought in much more. The global total was $376m - $139m from domestic and $236m from overseas.
The last Taken film, which came out on January 9, pulled in $325m worldwide. That was from $89m in North American receipts and $236m from foreign markets.

The actor - who tragically lost his wife Natasha Richardson in 2009 - wore a denim hat to conceal his face and did not appear to be in the best of moods.
His next film is A Christmas Star with Pierce Brosnan.
