North West's tantrum, Kanye's sulk and Katy Perry getting BOOED: Fashion Week's most awkward moments (so will there be more when LFW begins today?)

  • Kanye West refused to remove his hood while at Alexander Wang's show
  • North West famously had a tantrum next to ice queen Anna Wintour
  • Katy Perry was booed off the runway after arriving late to Moschino show

When toddler North West burst into tears while watching a fashion show from her mother's lap, the world cringed along with a blushing Kim Kardashian.

But little Nori's tantrum isn't the only time that a seat on the front row has come with a side order of shame for the occupant.

From celebrity tantrums to fashion fall-outs, FEMAIL relives the most awkward fashion show moments of recent years.

Kanye West's front row sulk

Kanye West was among celebrity guests on the front row at Alexander Wang's New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 show on Saturday night.

But although West was given a prime position beside Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj, the rapper was on sulky form and pulled his hood down to cover his face.

Later, as he left the show, West again used his hoodie for cover and slouched moodily past photographers before diving straight into a waiting car after making his exit.

While his antics failed to impress most onlookers, fellow rapper Minaj found the incident so funny she later shared an Instagram post with the caption: 'Someone was NOT having it tonight'.

Rather than posing for pictures with fellow guests, West pulled up his hood, crouched down over himself and refused to stop sulking until the photographers retreated.
He continued to hide in his hoodie as he left the show too, diving straight into a waiting car after exiting the show.

Candice Swanepoel’s runway tumble

When Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel tripped over her heels on the runway at Givenchy's S/S 2016 show in New York, the front row instantly split into two camps.

Half rushed to help the blonde model, who had grazed knees and a dented ego, get back onto her feet and continue walking.

Others remained seated. Some even looked away from the spectacle and hid their faces in their hands, dismayed by what had happened.

The 26-year-old model later thanks all those who helped her, posting a snap on Instagram accompanied by a caption that read:

'Thank you to who ever picked me up off the runway tonight. Left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego.'

North West's tantrum

Icy US Vogue boss Anna Wintour couldn't hide her annoyance when confronted with a crying North West on the front row earlier this year.

Seated beside Kim Kardashian and daughter North as Kanye West's effort for Adidas was unveiled in February, the 65-year-old editor looked outraged by the incident.

Pictures of the incident show her inching away from the toddler while Jay Z and Beyonce looked studiously away and Kim Kardashian cast desperate glances over her shoulder.

Fellow fashion editors were also less than impressed, with Elle's Anne Slowey overheard muttering: 'Couldn't they leave it backstage? Typical celebrity crap.'

Katy Perry booed at Moschino

Singer Katy Perry was supposed to be a star guest at Moschino's February 2014 Milan show, where friend and designer Jeremy Scott was to unveil his debut collection for the brand.

But when the singer arrived at the venue nearly an hour late, delaying the start time by 50 minutes, the rest of the audience were less than impressed.

As Katy took to the runway to pose for photographs and greet the front row, she was booed by the crowd and made a swift - if awkward - exit.

Front row style twins

In recent years, the front row has increasingly been filled by celebrities dressed by the designer holding the show.

Unfortunately for Solange Knowles and Leigh Lezark, stylists at Noon by Noor lost track of which celebrity was sent which piece during New York Fashion Week in September 2013.

The singer and the DJ arrived at the S/S14 show wearing almost identical outfits - a faux pas worsened by the two being seated beside each other.

Happily, the two had chosen slightly different pieces, with Solange opting for shorts and a jacket and Leigh wearing a feather print shirt and a pair of tapered trousers. The print, however, was identical

Celebrity tensions

Compared with the logistics of organising a show, the seating plan for the audience should be a relatively easy task.

But the vogue for giving pride of place to celebrities has begun to create tension, with editors and photographers left furious after being bumped down the pecking order because of an A-list guest.

Complicating matters further is the mini-feuds played out between the celebrities themselves, not least when both Kim Kardashian and Beyonce were spotted looking tight-lipped after being sat together at Kanye's Adidas show in February.

Other celebrities to be left less than impressed with their companions include Anna Kendrick, Diane Kruger and Kristen Stewart.
