Two-year-old boy found sleeping on park bench after being left behind and forgotten by day care

A two-year-old boy was found sleeping on a park bench after he was allegedly forgotten by his day care center.

Ethan Huachi was discovered at Sunset Park in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday after he was left at a playground for more than an hour by workers from Quality of Life Academy day care.

The boy's angry mother, Diana Huachi, said the day care did not notify her about her son until 4.30pm even though he had been missing since noon.

'Anything could have happened! I mean, anybody, a psycho, could have taken him somewhere and that would have been the last day for me to see him this morning, dropping him off,' she told ABC7

Police said Ethan was in good health and condition and that an investigation remains underway. 

The day care has since been closed while it is under investigation and it is not known if any charges will be filed following the incident.

On Thursday, Ethan was taken to the park by three teachers and was one of 17 children, according to Inside Edition.

After Ethan was found around 1pm, he was taken to a hospital and then to the 72nd Precinct where he was under the care of police who tried to track down his parents, police said

When they left, the teachers had miscounted and only left with 16 children, police said. The day care is reportedly only licensed to care for a maximum of 15 children at a time.

The shared a photo of him on Twitter in the hopes that someone would recognize Ethan.

He had slept in the precinct for three hours and no one had claimed him, but five or ten minutes after the department shared the image with Renee Giordano, Executive Director of the Sunset Park Business Improvement District, she said they were able to give police his name, according to Pix11.

A person saw the tweet and reached out to the day care center who then alerted Ethan's mother, police said.

Together, Huachi and a day care worker went to the police department where the mother was reunited with her son. 

The Quality of Life day care permit has since been suspended. 

'After an investigation into the circumstances of a missing child at the Quality of Life Academy day care, the Health Department has suspended the day care's permit,' the Health Department said in a statement.

'We will work with the clients of the center to identify nearby day care options,' the Health Department said in a statement.'
