Tres chic! Queen Letizia steps out in elegant Carolina Herrera ensemble for Florida town’s 450th anniversary

Spanish Queen Letizia joined her husband King Felipe VI in St. Augustine, Florida today as the former capital city of Spanish Florida celebrated its 450th anniversary.

The stylish royal, 43, wore a light blue floral skirt and deeper blue blouse by Carolina Herrera for the occasion, accessorizing the look with a matching blue bag, sandals, and sunglasses.

Arm in arm with King Felipe, 47, she toured the centuries-old Castillo de San Marcos fort, which was designed by a Spanish engineer.

When it comes to royal style Queen Letizia may be giving Kate Middleton a run for her money. The Spanish aristocrat touched down in St. Augustine, FL to celebrate the town's 450th anniversary in a chic ensemble by Carolina Herrera.

Clad in a navy taffeta button down shirt and a floral print skirt, the stylish mother-of-two put a trendy spin on her conservative look, especially when she teamed her outfit with a pair of criss-cross ankle strap stiletto sandals.

The Venezuelan designer has been known to dress everyone from movie stars to our very own first lady, Michelle Obama, so it was no far stretch for the Queen to choose pieces from the Fall collection.

America's first city, St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by a Spanish admiral named Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, who later became Florida's first governor.

It was named after the feast day of St. Augustine, which happened to be the day that passengers on Pedro's ships first set eyes on the town.

Celebrating the city's 450th anniversary, King Felipe VI delivered a speech from the King’s Balcony of the Government House, overlooking the Plaza de la Constitución. He and Letizia were joined by a man who was dressed up as Pedro Menéndez de Avilés in a black-and-red period costume.

Felipe and Letizia are only the second Spanish royal couple to visit the city since it was founded four and a half centuries ago. King Felipe VI's father, King Juan Carlos I and his mother, Queen Sofia, made a trip there in 2001.

This is the reigning duo's latest stop on a four-day tour of the US.

Yesterday, they were in Miami, where Felipe received a Presidential Medal at Miami Dade College for his contribution to humanitarian causes. He also gave a lecture in Spanish to more than 1,000 people.

The queen wore a '20s-inspired Felipe Varela dress, which she had previously been seen wearing to a friend's wedding in 2012, to the campus, and layered it with a matching blue coat by the same designer.

On Wednesday, the pair landed in Washington, D.C., where they were welcomed by President and Michelle Obama.

Michelle gave Letizia a tour of the White House's Rose Garden, while King Felipe spent time with the President in the Oval Office, where the two reportedly discussed the importance of solving the refugee crisis.
