Carrie would approve! Sarah Jessica Parker dons stylish LBD and glittery pumps to launch shoe collection at Bloomingdale's

She's famous for playing fashionista Carrie Bradshaw on HBO's Sex and the City, a character with an unending appreciation for designer shoes.

And on Saturday Sarah Jessica Parker visited Bloomingdale's in New York City to celebrate the launch of her own designer shoe collection with the store, SJP Collection.

The 50-year-old would have made her character proud, arriving in a stylish black dress and a pair of glittery pumps from her own line.

SJP wore a three-quarter length sleeve black dress, which featured a scoop neck and cinched in to accentuate her trim waist.

The textured number, which fell to just above her knees in a flowing skirt, also highlighted the star's toned pins.

She finished off the chic look with a pair of glittery, peep toe pumps from her SJP Collection, as well as a few pieces of silver jewelry.

Sparkle in the city like Sarah Jessica Parker

The mother-of-three wore her long, blonde tresses in loose waves, and sported a sophisticated smoky eye for the launch.

She seemed to be in good spirits as she sported a wide smile while greeting crowds at Bloomingdale's before sitting down to sign autographs for fans purchasing shoes.

SJP was joined at the event by chief executive office of Manolo Blahnik George Malkemus III, with whom she collaborated on the collection.

'I love the way he conducts his business, I love the quality of his shoes, I love [the way] he maintains his business and the way he thinks about his customer and retail partners,' she said of George at another Bloomingdale's event, as reported by Women's Wear Daily.

After being presented with numerous opportunities to design shoe collections SJP revealed that she finally decided to create one after taking the plunge and calling George to see if he would be interested in working together.

Ahead of the launch on Saturday she posted a snap of the pair sharing a kiss, and wrote: 'George Malkemus III and I taking the plunge at @bloomingdales. And he says "and she tastes so good!" Be downstairs at noon.'

The blonde beauty then looked delighted as she wrote notes to the long line of fans who waited in line to buy shoes from her new collection.

She posted a sweet photograph of her sporting a wide smile as she signed her autograph for one giddy fan.

And the event seemed to have gone well for the designer, as she posted that they were running out of shoes.

The gracious actress also stuck around a bit longer for fans, noting: 'I was supposed to leave at 2 but I just can't bear it.'

After signing, she also shared a picture in which she looked giggly while posing alongside a group of hunky firefighters from the FDNY.

'Ladies! It's getting hot in here. A true honor to have the chance to meet some of @FDNY's finest and thank them for all they do. What a treat,' she wrote.
