Sammy Lee is being lined up to replace Mick McCarthy as Wolves manager, according to a report.

McCarthy is fighting for his job as Wanderes' promotion challenge has faltered in recent weeks. They have taken just four points from a possible 21 in the Championship and lie tenth in the table.

Chairman Steve Morgan, a lifelong Liverpool fan, is keen to bring in the former Bolton manager and Anfield hero Lee, according to the News Of The World.

Morgan has also sounded out Paul Ince, but the former England midfielder is determined to get promotion with MK Dons, who top Division Two.

Lee, 48, replaced Sam Allardyce at Bolton in April but was sacked after just six months with the Trotters second from bottom of the Premier League.
