A new high! Bindi Irwin gets used to heels as she and Derek Hough attend dog awards ceremony after dazzling Dancing With The Stars début

They topped the scoreboards with their Dancing With The Stars debut. 

And Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough continued to dazzle as they attended an awards ceremony for dogs in Los Angeles on Saturday.  

Teetering around in vertiginous heels instead of her preferred flats, happy-go-lucky Bindi and her dance partner beamed broadly as they posed for snaps at the American Humane Association event.

The 17-year-old was stylish in a floral cocktail dress, wearing her brunette locks loose around her shoulders.

The teenager seems to have finally adapted to life in high heels, pairing her dress with a pair of black stilettos.

Meanwhile, Derek was dapper in a grey suit which he teamed with a blue shirt.

The pair dazzled judges with their performance on Monday's Dancing With The Stars, Bindi wowing in a sparkling green mini-dress. 

The teenager has shared her excitement at being part of the show online, regularly sharing snippets of fun-filled rehearsals with seasoned pro Derek. 

Earlier in the weekend the pair indulged in a head-banging session, filming their efforts for a clip she later posted to her Instagram account.

Captioning the shot, the Australian gushed: 'The one person who truly understands my love for rock!! @derekhough love you so much !!'

Bindi and Derek wowed judges with their first performance on the show, pulling off a near-perfect jive to none other than Crocodile Rock. 

Dedicating her performance to her late father, Bindi told judges after their dance: 'I think that the real reason I'm doing this is to make him proud, and everyone back at home in Australia proud.'

Other celebrities at the animal lovers event included Days Of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney and former Party Of Five actress Lacey Chabert.
