'My instinct was to get him off the boat and onto mine,' Marquez recalled about seeing the young boy among the family.

Marquez yelled to the family: 'Throw the kid! Throw the kid!'

The boy, who was wearing a life vest, eventually made it into the water and his mother jumped in after him.

'We got those two aboard my boat,' Marquez told KHOU. 'My first instinct was get outta there, get outta there with the kid, the boat's on fire.'

The men in the boat jumped thereafter and were picked up by a U.S. Coast Guard vessel.

'They were a little sad and disappointed about the boat but definitely happy that they were rescued and nobody was hurt,' Adam McDaniel with the U.S. Coast Guard told Click2Houston.

The boat sank about an hour after the rescue, according to NBC News.

The Coast Guard also tipped their hat to the Good Samaritans.

'It's good that we had a quick response and we were able to save four people,' Seaman Jason Hall, said in a statement. 'It's also nice to see that there are good people that are willing to help.'

The area Coast Guard also tweeted:

'Good Sam just rescued 4 off Galveston Jetty. @USCG Station brought back. All are okay.'
