Six killed and five others wounded in string of shootings and stabbings during night of violence in New York City
- Violence across Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx began around 6pm
- Six men were killed, four men were wounded and one woman was hurt
- People were shot in the head, stabbed in the back and slashed in the face
- Violence took place on streets, at housing projects and at a house party
The fatal shooting of a man at a Brooklyn laundromat in the neighborhood of Flatbush-Ditmas Park on Saturday around 6pm began a night of violence in New York City that claimed six lives.
The 36-year-old man, who has not been identified at this time, was shot twice in the chest following an argument in front of Mr Lee Cleaners and died after being taken to Kings County Hospital.
He was the first to fall in a night of shootings and stabbings across three of the city's boroughs that left at least five people wounded in addition to the fatalities.

The shootings happened in the walkways around the public housing complex in Downtown Brooklyn
A 25-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were found shot on East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx two hours later.
Both were taken to the hospital with torso wounds, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman was listed in critical condition, the New York Post reported.
Their names were not immediately released and no arrests were made.
About three hours later in East Harlem, 34-year-old Kevin Brye was shot in the head close to his home in the Jefferson Houses and died at Metropolitan Hospital, according to the Daily News.
The violence continued back in Brooklyn around 2am in the Ingersoll Houses when three men - aged 39, 43 and 76 - were killed, two with wounds to the head and one with a shot to the abdomen.

In addition to shooting in Brooklyn, violence also erupted in East Harlem in Manhattan and in the Bronx
A New York City Police Department crime scene unit was on the scene to collect evidence for the case
A 21-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police for questioning.
The shootings happened int he walkways around the housing complex, ABC 7 reported.
A man who works in the area said: 'I just heard a couple gunshots.
'And then I saw a lot of cops coming around. That was it.'
At about the same time those shootings were taking place in Downtown Brooklyn, a 21-year-old man was shot in the face and and another man was stabbed at a Bronx house party.
Both were taken to the hospital although their conditions remain unclear.
The violence concluded with a 26-year-old man getting stabbed in the back and slashed in the face around 3.30am while another reported being shot in the buttocks around 5am in the South Bronx.
The men were listed in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
