A Colorado father was horrified when his daughter came home from school with a personal note from a teacher at her school.

Cary Reed said he was in shock when his daughter, 7, who is in the second grade at Aurora Academy Charter School, showed him a letter from a fourth grade teacher in which the man called her things like 'stinky butt' and 'crazy head' and included a photo of himself with his tongue sticking out.

He was unsure what to do until the next day, when the teacher gave his daughter another letter.

'As I read over the letter, it was concerning since it had the teacher’s face and he was using pet names to refer to her,' Reed told Fox 31.

'We felt it was inappropriate and grooming behaviors.'

After the second letter in which the teacher - who does not have Reed's daughter as a student - asked for the young girl's 'friendship,' Reed decided to take action.

The comments that the teacher made in the notes telling the young girl 'you make me smile' seemed like 'grooming behavior' to Reed, who has experience in law enforcement.

That letter also said things like 'I hope our friendship can be the key,' and spoke of the girl's feelings.

'At that point, we felt like we needed to address it with the school,' said Reed.

He was in disbelief however when after going to school they quickly replied that the situation had been taken care of and that the teacher would no longer give his daughter letters.

The teacher was not disciplined however by the school.

'Given the concerning nature of the situation we just wanted to school to be a little bit more proactive,' said Reed.

The school has not released the teacher's name as he has not been charged with a crime, and the principal said; 'He understands his behavior was inappropriate. He assures me it will not happen again.'
