Laverne Cox turns heads as she works low-cut and elegant floor-length blue dress at 67th Emmy Awards

Her beloved Netflix show Orange Is The New Black is up for Outstanding Drama Series.

And Laverne Cox ensured she was an unforgettable presence when she arrived to the Emmys in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday in a low-cut and failsafe blue dress that had cut-outs on the waistline.

The 31-year-old transgender actress radiated as she commanded the red carpet, her long and lush highlighted hair falling down in romantic waves.

Laverne highlighted her famous face with bronzer high atop her cheek bones, and a shiny application of lip gloss. 

The star had on a healthy heap of smoky eye shadow to up the glam factor, and her neon yellow heels added a stylish surprise as they peeked beneath her floor-length garment.

Playing with her long glossy hair, Laverne looked flawless as she worked her magic for photographers.

Laverne was certainly excited to be in attendance, and just hours earlier could barely hold in her pride as she tweeted: 'Heading to the #Emmys2015. So proud to be a part of #OITNB. Thanks to the academy and our amazing fans for the love.'

The actress' role on Orange Is The New Black has made Laverne a figurehead for the trans community.

And whether she is speaking out against transphobia or posing in a swimsuit, the actress does her best to break down barriers.

Last month she addressed transphobia, speaking with emotion about the high numbers of trans women murdered.

I'm really sick of talking about trans women being murdered... I'm so sick of talking about it,' she said, almost choking up, during her TimesTalk interview with the New York Times.

'I talk about it all the time. But 21 transgender women have been found murdered this year.'

Laverne plays Sophia Burset on the hit Netflix show, a role that has seen her nominated for a Primetime Emmy. 

The actress was certainly not the only Orange Is The New Black star to attend the Emmys. 

Among other stars to grace the red carpet were Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Danielle Brooks, Yael Stone, Natasha Lyonne, Dascha Polanco, Uzo Aduba, Taryn Manning, and Jackie Cruz.

In addition to the coveted Outstanding Drama Series nomination, Uzo is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for her fan favourite role of Crazy Eyes. 

Pablo Schreiber - the infamous corrections officer George Mendez - was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series.

The show is also up for Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series.
