For school run mums who still hanker for a bit of motoring fun and dads who feel too young for a traditional saloon, Jaguar has today taken the wraps off its first 'family friendly' sports car. The new F-PACE is Jaguar's first ever sports utility 'crossover' vehicle and is designed to put the 'phwoar factor ' into the 4X4 market - with plenty of room for the kids.
The easy way to beat your parking ticket: Student creates free website for drivers to appeal fast after he got 30 in nine months
An entrepreneurial student has set up a free-to-use parking ticket website which allows drivers to appeal their fine within seconds. Joshua Browder's donotpay.co.uk allows motorists to pick one of 12 reasons of defence, then enter the relevant details and send a custom generated appeal. He says it not only saves time, but also ensures drivers have the best possible chance of winning their appeals. He says motorists can generate appeals in less than a minute.
SIMON LAMBERT: My council has gone parking mad with another wild goose chase attack on the motorcar
A month ago I arrived home from holiday to a letter from Islington Council. It had invented a problem that doesn't exist and come up with a solution in the form of massively extended parking restrictions. Islington appears to be using its CPZ as part of its self-serving quixotic tilt at the motorcar. I wonder whether that is actually legal?

Striking, high-tech and nimble: The award-winning Volvo XC90 is a step closer to the driverless car of the future
Having test-driven one for a week, I'm impressed with Volvo's exceptionally striking, high-tech and nimble XC90 sports utility vehicle. So are the neighbours, and our builders, who seemed to know more about it than I did. This week, it also impressed judges at the motor industry's Oscars - the Auto Express Awards in London - at which it was named Car Of The Year and where it also took the prize for best large sports utility vehicle.

CLASSIC CARS
Birth of a new generation of classic cars: Golf GTi joins 1970s and 80s sportscars to muscle E-Types and Gullwings out of the fastest risers
Lesser known classic cars have seen the biggest gain in price during the last six months according to the latest index from expert valuation firm Hagerty. In the index, it says 23 cars have seen their value increase by more than 30 per cent and with three exceptions, these motors are all 1970s and 1980s classics, with the majority valued at under £100,000.
Classic car lovers snap up everything from a Rolls Royce, to a Skoda convertible and a 1940s London bus, as entire motor museum goes under the hammer
Iconic cars on offer when the Stondon Museum collection was sold ranged from an Aston Martin Lagonda, to a Rover SD1 police car, and Ford Model T. But buyers could also pick up some even more exotic items, including a former Russian Army Soviet 4x4 Amphibious Battle Support Vehicle and a 1948 AEC Regent III RT London bus.
