BT and the curse of the Zombie Channel: New drama channel AMC from BT registers zero viewers

Zombies seem to have scared away audiences from BT’s new drama channel, AMC from BT, which registered zero viewers according to the official audience survey.

The channel, whose flagship show zombie drama Fear The Walking Dead, airs alongside re-runs of hit series such as Breaking Bad, is a key part of BT’s strategy to expand its broadcast business and was launched with great fanfare in August.

Figures from official audience researcher Barb, which surveys 5,100 homes, showed not one of the survey panel watched the BT drama channel at all on Thursday – the latest date for which figures are available.

There were also no viewers on the previous Saturday. While some viewers may have watched the channel, the panel result means the channel officially had no viewers on these days.

AMC has been live for three weeks and the average national audience at any point throughout that time has been calculated at 3,800.

A BT spokesman said: ‘AMC has only been live for a few weeks and we’re pleased with the start it has made.

‘TV ratings also don’t include our BT TV On Demand or Catch Up figures and these are very popular.’
