Sheer-ly delightful! Empire star Taraji P. Henson looks like a million bucks in see-through black dress with chain straps

She is hoping to finally be crowned the queen of the Empire.

And outstanding lead actress in a drama series nominee Taraji P. Henson was certainly dressed for success as she paraded herself ont he Emmy's red carpet on Sunday.

She looked in fine form indeed in a dramatic custom made Alexander Wang gown that drew attention to her pleasingly curvy physique.

The 45-year-old was delighted to be showcasing her curvy figure on her big night, and took great delight in using her train as a makeshift cape when posing for the photographers.

She has become one of the most popular names on the small screen due to her scene-stealing turn as Cookie, who is the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon and the co-founder of Empire Entertainment.

However the deck may be stacked against her winning the Emmy, as she is up against the likes of House of Cards star Robin Wright, Homeland favourite Claire Danes and How to Get Away with Murder Viola Davis.

The glamorous star was escorted down the red carpet by her son Marcell, who she controversially claimed had been racially profiled by police when he was stopped after going through a red light in Glendale last year, an assertion she later recanted and apologised for.

In a statement she said: 'A mother's job is not easy and neither is a police officer's. Sometimes as humans we overreact without gathering all the facts.

'As a mother in this case, I overreacted and for that I apologize. Thank you to that officer for being kind to my son.'

Taraji is featured as the cover star on the October issue of Glamour Magazine, and looks stunning in a bright orange frock with a metallic gold belt.

She gave fans an insight on her views regarding her character Cookie, dishing: 'After 17 years in prison, Cookie feels there is nothing to fear. She made it out alive. In her mind that’s how strong she is.'

The Baby Boy star also noted about her personal struggles, becoming pregnant while striving to be an actress: 'I didn't have time to go to the club to 'network.' That's B.S. No business deals go down at the club. So I didn't get caught up in that. I had a mission. I had to make my dream come true.'

Her determination, of course, paid off with her latest role earning her an Emmy nod - making her one of the most popular characters on television.
