It may look like the latest hi-tech toy to give the Nintendo Wii a run for its money but pictured below is the steering wheel which Ferrari hope will guide its drivers to more grand prix success this season.

The Italian marque has just

unveiled its 2008 F1 challenger,

a car that accommodates a

series of technical changes and

the return of the No 1 on its red

nose following Kimi

Raikkonen's remarkable

final-race title triumph last

The car — the 54th the team has

built for F1 — features the new

standard electronic control

unit to be used by all teams this season, while other

innovations include a

revamped transmission and

increased safety features, with

lateral guards near the drivers'

helmets. Under new

regulations, the car is heavier

than last year's, weighing in at

1,333.78lb, including water, oil

and driver.

There is also a complete

overhaul in aerodynamics,

although Ferrari said more

changes will be put in place

before the first race in

Melbourne on March 16.

Raikkonen is scheduled to test

the car — the F2008 — for the

first time on Ferrari's home

track in Fiorano today.
