  • Lorelai Clubb received tickets for a Taylor Swift gig for her 12th birthday
  • Weeks later the youngster was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
  • The 12 year old from Missouri has undergone a bone marrow transplant
  • She released a video on YouTube because she cannot go to the concert

A young girl who is unable to go to a Taylor Swift concert due to her battle against cancer has created a video in a tribute to the singer, in a bid to convince the star to visit the fan in hospital.

Lorelai Clubb from Cape Girardeau in Missouri was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia just weeks after receiving tickets for the concert.

The 12 year old has since been told that she cannot go to the gig because she might develop an infection after undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy as well as a bone marrow transplant.

Lorelai's mother Shannon Clubb, 38, spotted a large purple bruise on her daughter's leg in April.

Initially, it was thought the bruise was caused by Lorelia's younger brother, Truman.

But when further significant bruising was discovered, she was taken to a doctor who sent her for tests.

The 12 year old spent her birthday in St Louis Children's Hospital and underwent a bone marrow transplant on August 18.

After the transplant, Lorelai has been restricted from going anywhere she could possibly catch an infection.

Instead of attending the concert, Lorelai asked the hospital's music therapist, Christy Merrell to help her create a musical tribute to Taylor Swift.

She told People: 'I have never met a patient that is more obsessed with someone than Lorelai is with Taylor Swift. She had an idea of what she wanted to do.'

It took them just one hour to write the lyrics after Ms Merrell spotted a monitor making an electronic noise beside Lorelai's bed.

The two-minute video features staff members at St Louis Children's Hospital with Lorelai singing the lyrics. She was unable to leave her room during the filming because of the risk of infection.

But her family hopes that Swift will spot the video, which is being shared on YouTube and may call in for a quick visit before the concert.

According to Lorelai's online journal, the reaction to her video is even helping with her recovery.

She wrote: 'Sometimes when I have trouble going to sleep at night and my dad always tells me to try to go to a happy place. It has been hard for me to find a happy place since I got diagnosed, but everybody's reaction to my video is one of my new happy places and it will help me sleep.'
