Rachel McAdams turned heads during a night out in her Canadian homeland.

The 36-year-old actress, who was sporting a sexy leather jacket and denim jeans look, caused quite the stir as she headed out to some bars in Toronto over the weekend.

McAdams, who was born in London, Ontario, paused to take photos with one group of fans, while she managed to stop a male admirer in his tracks before he ran back to take a snap of her.

Sexy lady: Rachel McAdams donned a sexy leather jacket and denim look for a night out in Toronto, Canada, over the weekend

The actress, who lives in Toronto, recently attended the city's film festival and on Friday confirmed rumours that she had landed an unspecified role alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel's upcoming film Doctor Strange.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange will be a departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's usual superhero fanfare with Benedict's neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange introducing mysticism to the universe.

The film will also star Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) as supervillain Baron Mordo and Tilda Swinton (The Grand Budapest Hotel) as Strange's mentor The Ancient One.

Doctor Strange is slated to premiere in November, 2016, taking place after the events of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.

McAdams has also been seen recently on the second season of Showtime's crime thriller True Detective, which aired over the summer.

It was recently rumoured that she has struck up a romance with her True Detective co-star and fellow Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch, 34, of Friday Night Lights fame.

McAdams was formerly in a long term relationship with Michael Sheen, who she met on the set of Woody Allen's 2010 romantic comedy Midnight in Paris, before splitting in 2013.
