Is that Fozzie Bear or Seth Rogen? Gonzo or Adrien Brody? We meet the Muppets' celebrity doppelgängers

Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their Muppet friends are without doubt some of the most recognizable faces on the celebrity circuit.

But as The Muppets returns to our screens this week, we couldn't help but notice that these fuzzy stars bear more than a passing resemblance to some other famous faces.

In fact, many of these celebrity pairings are so uncanny, we're not entirely convinced that they weren't separated at birth.

Whether it's Natalie Dormer with her luscious locks or Adrien Brody sporting his sharp suits, these celebrities have shown that there aren't actually many differences between human and Muppet.

So as the new series starts on Tuesday September 22 at 8|7c on ABC, we take a look at some of our favorite Muppet characters and their celebrity doppelgängers.

Fozzie Bear and Seth Rogen

Fozzie Bear
Seth Rogen

Lovable lads: Rugged, furry and ginger - actor Seth Rogen bears more than a passing resemblance to The Muppets' Fozzie Bear. What's more, these guys both share a passion for comedy - even though Fozzie still has a way to go if he hopes to be as successful as his doppelgänger

Denise and Natalie Dormer

Denise
Natalie Dormer

Sultry sirens: With her glossy hair, almond-shaped eyes and chiseled cheekbones, English actress Natalie Dormer is a dead ringer for ABC's head of marketing Denise

Kermit the Frog and Josh Malina

Cheery chaps: They might not both be green, but The Muppets' Kermit and Scandal's Josh Malina could quite easily be mistaken for twins

Pepe the King Prawn and Jaden Smith

Cool kids: Not many celebs can pull off the hair-balanced-on-top-of-head look, but both Pepe the King Prawn and Jaden Smith have nailed it. Plus they both seem to have a particular fondness for hoodies, and can pull a mean pout for the camera

Animal and Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix

Daring dudes: Animal's wild overgrown locks, signature style and rock n' roll lifestyle make us think back to 2008 when Walk the Line actor Joaquin Phoenix grew out his hair, threw away his razor blades and adopted the distinctly disheveled look

The Great Gonzo and Adrien Brody

The Great Gonzo
Adrien Brody

Suited and booted: Slim, refined and with a rather distinctive shaped nose - there's not much these two dapper celebrities don't have in common. They even share the same impeccable sense of style - although the Great Gonzo tends to be more colorful with his choices

Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Willie Garson

Dr Bunsen Honeydew
Willie Garson

Geek chic: With his cute specs, endearing smile and a smart-casual sense of style - not to mention the distinct lack of hair on his head - the Muppets' resident scientist Dr Bunsen Honeydew could quite easily be mistaken for Sex and the City actor Willie Garson

Miss Piggy and...

Unique: We tried and tried to find a celebrity look-alike for Miss Piggy, but it turns out there is simply no one quite comparable to the curly-tailed blond bombshell... This pig truly is one of a kind
