Misplaced nude paneling, a dress with slacks and CROCS on the red carpet: The stars who missed the mark with their over-the-top looks at the 2015 Emmy Awards
- All eyes were on the stars at the 2015 Emmy Awards in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday
- Alan Cumming, Taryn Manning and Jaimie Alexander all missed the mark with their ensembles
- Joanna Newsom - the wife of Emmys host Andy Samberg - looked like the dinner table met the drapes
All eyes were on the stars at the 2015 Emmy Awards in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday - but not all of them were lucky enough to shine.
There were ill-fitting gowns and eyesores galore on the red carpet this year and the likes of Alan Cumming, Taryn Manning and Jaimie Alexander were the main culprits.
Alan, 50, went for the most risque look on the red carpet by wearing a half-classic-half-zoot suit with pegged trousers and a pair of black Crocs - which shocked viewers so much that it began a trending hashtag #crocsontheredcarpet.

All that glitters... Actress Jaimie Alexander looked like she walked off the set of a sci-fi program in this glittering gown and product-drenched hair
Making a statement: Singer Joanna Newsom - the wife of Emmys host Andy Samberg - looked like the dinner table met the drapes in this eccentric outfit
Talk about a misstep: Actor Alan Cumming, left, topped off his strange outfit with shoes from the much-maligned Crocs brand, while January Jones' jumpsuits with strangely placed waterfall detailing and leaf brooch didn't exactly make the other guests green with envy
Actress Jaimie Alexander sported a particularly severe look with her hair drenched in product for a slicked-back style and a multi-toned glittering gown from Armani Prive that looked more ready for the set of a sci-fi series than a red carpet.
The wife of host Andy Samberg, Joanna Newsom, sported a Delpozo dress just as eccentric as her musical stylings with what appeared to be a platter - or the world's largest cameo brooch - across her chest and a dramatic rectangular-cut hemline revealing a floor-length tulle lining. The look added up to a combination of dining table and drapes.
The dresses of American Horror Story star Naomi Grossman and Homeland's Nazanin Boniadi both made use of nude paneling in incredibly awkward fashion, with Naomi's swirling pattern stretching around the body from tip to toe and Nazanin looking as if her left sleeve had fallen to pieces in an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.
However, Naomi's dress did have a one-up on Nazanin's: it actually appeared to fit her properly.
She's a Barbie girl: Actress Elisabeth Moss opted for a vibrant pink gown that did little to compliment her porcelain complexion
Far from mellow in yellow! The usually stylish Heidi Klum's mesh canary dress with complex detailing was far from the supermodel style she usually showcases
Be bold in a yellow Versace like Heidi
No matter that summer is officially over, the sun keeps shining and the red carpet is still as hot as ever, especially with Heidi Klum on it in Atelier Versace.
Keep those all-black looks in the closet for a while and stay bright and bold with flirty lace, cut out frocks for now.
Whether you're on the Italian Rivera or playing dice on the Vegas strip, this yellow dreamy number will be sure to turn heads with it's incredibly intricate bead work and silk overlay. This is couture after all!
Sadly since this is from the fall 2015 couture runway, it won't ever be available on line. Head over to Luisaviaroma to check out Versace ready to wear for other sexy striking looks.
Or buy a similar dress from our top picks below that won't break the bank. These will have you shining and smiling since you can still pay for rent while looking so fab! As always we're throwing in a few cocktail length options for those who want that lacey look for a more everyday event.
Nude but not: Although American Horror Story star Naomi Grossman (L) irked with the awkward placement of nude paneling on her gown, at least the garment fit, which cannot be said for Nazanin Boniadi's
Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka mixed things up in a bad way with the strange Christian Dior Couture combination of black pants and a yellow and mint green embroidered mini dress. The 15-year-old was daring, but not quite on point with the ensemble.
January Jones' jumpsuit with strangely placed waterfall detailing and a leaf brooch didn't exactly make the other guests green with envy, and the usually stylish Heidi Klum's mesh canary-colored dress with complex detailing was far from embodying the supermodel style she usually showcases.
The prize for strangest pop culture reference has to go to Portlandia's Fred Armisen, who arrived in a strange yet touching homage to horror director Wes Craven, who passed away recently, with a knife-covered glove - otherwise known as Nightmare On Elm Street villain Freddy Krueger's weapon of choice. He topped off the look with a striped tie in the colors of the infamous blood-thirsty character's sweater.
Transparent writer and director Jill Soloway may have picked up an Emmy, but won't be winning any fashion awards for her garish polka dot suit.
Orange is the New Black actress Taryn Manning was likely sweltering in the Los Angeles heat in her black, draping, long-sleeved Rubin Singer cutout gown that had more than a touch of Morticia Adams about it.
Her co-star, Danielle Brooks, likewise had a fashion fail and clearly took the advice 'go bold or go home' a little too seriously when dressing in her blue, yellow and green colorblock dress for the event.
What a combo: 15-year-old Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka confused with this daring mix of dress and pants
A winner... or not: Director Jill Soloway sported a garish polka dot suit and shirt over a set of strange black, beige and white creepers, left, and Amy Schumer, right, may have taken home an award for her outstanding variety sketch series for Inside Amy Schumer, but her blue gown with badly placed panels and grungy beauty look wouldn't be helping her take home any trophies
Colorblocking is the new black: Orange Is The New Black star Danielle Brooks clearly took the advice 'go bold or go home' a little too seriously when dressing for the event
An odd homage: Portlandia's Fred Armisen paid tribute to the late Wes Craven with an ensemble inspired by Nightmare On Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, left, while Tracee Ellis Ross resembled a wedding cake with her layered pink gown
Death doesn't become her: Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning channeled Morticia Adams in this draping black frock
One for Halloween? Julianne Hough's sheer black dress, which left little to the imagination, seemed better suited to a fancy dress party come October 31
Actress Viola Davis may have won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her role in ABC's How To Get Away With Murder but she missed the mark with her leaf detailed dress.
Games Of Thrones star Maisie Williams, who usually dresses to impress on the red carpet, appeared to have taken style tips from Barbie with her bubblegum pink dress and fluffy shoes.
Actress Elisabeth Moss seems to have had the same style icon as Miss Williams - and opted for a vibrant pink gown that did little to compliment her porcelain complexion.
Funnywoman Amy Schumer's blue gown with badly placed panels and grungy beauty look wasn't quite red carpet perfection, while Julianne Hough's sheer black dress, which left little to the imagination, seemed better suited to Halloween.
Laura Prepon, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Anna Chlumsky all missed the mark with their garish gowns, too.
Fashion fail: Actress Viola Davis, left, who took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her role in ABC's How To Get Away With Murder, missed the mark with her leaf detailed dress, left, while Games Of Thrones star Maisie Williams, right, appeared to have taken style tips from Barbie with her bubblegum pink dress and fluffy shoes
Fashion faux pas: Maggie Gyllenhaal's purple gown looked more befitting of an Eighties prom, left, while Anna Chlumsky's cream dress with floral and netting applique missed the mark
When ombre goes wrong: Retta's pink and white ombre gown with a cluster of sequin discs on the hemline missed the mark, left, whilt, Laura Prepon, who played Donna Pinciotti in That '70s Show, blended in with the carpet on Sunday night
