Light and dark! Former child star Emma Roberts, 24, swaps sweet pink Emmys dress for a sultry black gown for afterparty

Emma Roberts was as excited for her upcoming TV show, Scream Queens, as she was for her fashion at the Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The 24-year-old actress was a stunner in an off-white, classically inspired gown that was 'dripping in diamonds' when she walked the red carpet, before changing into a sexy sheer number for the afterparty.

Talking to E! host Giuliana Rancic, however, Emma mostly wanted to talk about her newest television project.

Her blonde hair loose and curled to one side over a shoulder, Emma opted for dramatic makeup, including dark eyes for contrast.

Coral pink lips were the perfect companions to lightly blushed cheeks.

Visible thanks to a deeply cut V-neck bodice, Emma had a doubled-over silver chain wrapped around her neck - the style matched bracelets wrapped around the actress' left wrist.

A few silver rings on the opposite hand went with the same sparkly theme.

For her dress, Emma showed a little of her chest in the sleeveless bodice - it was cinched at the waist with a slightly darker band and a starburst buckle.

The flowing skirts of Emma's dress reached the floor, hiding her shoes underneath.

As Emma described it, the style was 'dripping in diamonds.'

When asked about Scream Queens, Emma offered a smile and insisted that creator Ryan Murphy's writing was her favourite part.

'We've all been quoting the lines,' she said and proved it by sharing her favourite: 'Good evening, idiot hookers!'

'We come into the hair-and-makeup trailer at 5:30am, and we're like, "Good evening, idiot hookers!"'

Another of Emma's favourite lines turned out to be originally from humour writer Dorothy Parker: 'What fresh hell is this?'

Going dark: Also at the awards ceremony - but apparently walking the red carpet separately - was Emma's on-again-off-again beau, Evan Peters
