Even a screen Queen needs a shopping trolley! Make-up free Helen Mirren makes low-key trip to the store in New York before reverting to her usual glamorous self just hours later
She’s no stranger to stealing the limelight at exclusive red-carpet events, often dressed to the nines.
But on Monday morning, Helen Mirren was a world away from her glamorous self as she ditched her gowns for a more stripped down look during a low-key spree in New York.
Dressed down in slouchy blue trousers and a plain white top, the award-winning actress appeared to be in relaxed spirits as she headed out with a shopping trolley.

Out and about: Helen Mirren was a world away from her glamorous self as she ditched her gowns for a more stripped down look during a low-key spree in New York on Monday
With her short locks neatly styled, the 70-year-old star allowed her natural beauty to shine with minimal traces of makeup.
Later on that day, Helen and husband Taylor Hackford headed to the Metropolitan Opera's season opening night of Verdi's Otello at the city's Lincoln Center.
The British actress slipped into a colourful ankle-length frock decorated with a print of children's drawings of red flowers, white houses, rainbows and blue skies.

Bring out your inner child in Helen's Dolce & Gabbana dress
We all know that Helen Mirren is young at heart.
But just in case we needed proof of her playful spirit, the Hollywood actress offered us plenty by wearing this dress adorned with children's scribbles. Very Angelina Jolie wedding dress-esque.
The three quarter sleeve satin midi is from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2015 collection and features what looks like real life drawings of houses, rainbows and gardens. It's one very happy frock.
Helen is an avid fan of Dolce & Gabbana's designs and often wears the Italian brand at high profile events - but this is her most daring look to date. She pulled it off in one!
This exact dress isn't available online but a super similar version is up for grabs on the Neiman Marcus website - just click right to make it yours now.
We'll be styling ours with cream strappy sandals and minimal jewelry to avoid detracting from the innovative design.
She's a work of art: The 70-year-old slipped into a colourful ankle-length frock decorated with red flowers, white houses, rainbows and blue skies of the kind a child might draw
The Dolce And Gabbana dress featured a round neck, long sleeves and a fitted bodice with a full skirt that billowed out beautifully.
Helen, whose platinum blonde hair was cut into a short bob, teamed her frock with white high-heeled pumps and a black handbag.
The Queen actress smiled as she cuddled up to her husband of nearly 20 years, Officer And A Gentleman director Taylor.
Not solo: The British beauuty was joined by her doting husband Taylor Hackford at the event

His salt and pepper-colour hair was slicked back and his white beard and moustache was neatly cut.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Othello and directed by Bartlett Sher, the opera follows the Moor’s dramatic downfall with tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko as the doomed Otello.
Having a laugh: Something caught Helen's attention as she posed before the start of the opera
Powerful duet: Aleksandrs Antonenko sings the role of Otello with Sonya Yoncheva as his ill-fated daughter Desdemona in Verdi's Otello at the Metropolitan Opera in New York
It's the first time since the opera was first staged at the Met in 1891 that a white singer performing the title role was not wearing makeup to darken his complexion to play the Moor, according to NPR.
On Saturday evening, the couple were far more casually dressed for the invitation-only screening of Keith's Under The Influence.
Helen paired a striking pair of hot pink trousers with a blue cardigan and spiced up the look with leopard print heels and a matching handbag. Her beau chose a plum T-shirt under a smart black jacket and brown corduroy trousers
Rocking a different style of music: On Saturday the couple were casually dressed when they were invited to an exclusive screening of Keith Richards bio-documentary Under the Influence at the Museum of Modern Art
