But Dakota Johnson and her on-off beau Matthew Hitt certainly looked very close as they went for a walk together in New York on Monday.

In fact the beefcake went so far as to put his arm around the 50 Shades Of Grey starlet as they stopped for coffee in Soho together during their romantic stroll.

And the saucy thespian, who is the daughter of Working Girl Melanie Griffith and acting legend Don Johnson, seemed to be lapping up the attention from her macho other half.

While talking about her famous portrayal of Anastasia Steele, 57-year-old comedienne Ellen asked the brassy brunette: 'Are you in a relationship?'

Dakota replied 'no' with a bit of hesitation and nervous laughter.
