Twice the star power! Amanda Seyfried and Balthazar Getty set to join highly anticipated Twin Peaks revival
Already the reincarnation of this show has taken more twists and turns than the original's roller coaster story line.
While just a few months ago there were questions if the revival of the Nineties series would ever make it to the small screen, it has just been revealed that Twin Peaks has landed itself some Hollywood star power.
According to TV Line, Showtime's new version of the cult hit will star Amanda Seyfried and Balthazar Getty.

New role: Amanda Seyfried (pictured last week) has reportedly been cast in the remake of Twin Peaks
Go for the gold in a show-stopping skirt like Amanda's
Amanda arrived at the Givenchy show last week in a blindingly glamorous sequined skirt.
The flamenco inspired cut featured a ruffled hem that dipped lower in the back and sat high on her waist.
She toned things down a bit with a simple black tank, which we really appreciate because it allowed the skirt to speak for itself.
And really, with a skirt this great, you don't need anything else!
Unfortunately, Amanda's mermaid skirt isn't available for us mere mortals to buy. But there are plenty of gilded options on the high market that'll pack the same punch without costing their weight in gold.
That being said, have a look at the edit below, where we've culled together some dazzling selections for your next evening soiree!
The website reports the series will bring Amanda back to the small screen - last time she had a main TV role was in Big Love in 2011 - but exactly who she will be playing is as big of a mystery as who killed Laura Palmer in the first series.
TV Line's sources confirmed only that the 29-year-old will play a 'pivotal new character'.
Mystery also surrounds Balthazar's role as it is not clear if he is playing a new character or taking over an existing one - while some of the original stars are returning reports are some of the characters have been recast.
Mystery role: Balthazar Getty (pictured June) is also believed to be in the new Showtime series but while Amanda will play a new character, it is not known if he is stepping into an old role or a new one too
Round two: Balthazar previously starred in Twin Peaks director David Lynch's 1997 cult classic Lost Highway with Patricia Arquette
The limited series will be a modern continuation of the hit and once again has the iconic David Lynch at the helm.
On and off: Lynch (pictured April) walked away from the project briefly after a budget dispute
He has directed Balthazar previous in 1997 cult classic Lost Highway.
The director and his original co-creator Mark Frost have written all the episodes and shooting is underway in Washington.
However while it is now full steam ahead, the new series almost missed getting made.
Earlier this year Lynch walked away from the project after a budget fight with Showtime.
But then the director returned and the show went from nine episodes to 18.
Twin Peaks is slated for release in 2016 - 25 years after the original aired - and will see the return of original star Kyle MacLachlan.
While it has been confirmed a number of cast members will be returning, who remains unclear.
Tthe Nineties version did star Lara Flynn Boyle, Sherilyn Fenn, Madchen Amick and Heather Graham.
The surreal-yet-campy soap opera ran on ABC for two seasons until its cancellation in 1991, but not before amassing three Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards, a Grammy, and cult status.
