'My milk went dry': Model Coco Rocha responds to shamers who attacked her for not breastfeeding her daughter

  • The 27-year-old was criticized for not breastfeeding after she shared an Instagram photo of her six-month-old daughter Ioni drinking out of a bottle
  • Coco responded to her critics by vowing to block anyone who negatively comments on how she is raising her baby

Model and mother Coco Rocha has taken a stand on social media and announced that she will block any person who negatively comments on how she is raising her baby after she was attacked on Instagram for not breastfeeding her daughter.

The 27-year-old, who is vacationing at Turtle Bay Resort Oahu in Hawaii, took to Instagram on Monday to praise the GoButler app for delivering her formula for her six-month-old daughter Ioni, while they were on vacation.

However, the seemingly innocent picture of Ioni drinking from a bottle prompted many strangers to shame the new mom for giving her daughter formula as they touted the benefits of breastfeeding.

Coco responded to her critics by sharing a close-up photo of her bottle feeding her daughter an hour later, writing: 'Getting a lot of unwanted advice based on my last post. Not that this is anyone's business - I loved breastfeeding Ioni for the first 5 months of her life and then one day my milk went dry.'

'It happens to every mom at different times,' she added. 'She's been on formula for a few weeks now and seems to be doing just fine. In the last 4 weeks she gained another 2 pounds, grew another inch and is in the 90th percentile for her age.

'Anyone who has a negative comment to make on the way I raise my baby will be blocked. This is not a democracy, everyone doesn't get a say [sic].'

The brunette beauty's response has been liked more than 18,000 times since it was posted, with many women offering her words of support.

'I have three children two were breastfed and one couldn't and was formula fed. She is just as happy, smart and healthy as the other two. Don't listen to anyone else, we are all doing our best,' one mother wrote.

Another added: 'No one should be judging any mother's parenting or method of feeding. As long as Ioni is healthy, it's all that matters.

And staying true to her word, Coco rid herself of the negative commentary that was building up on her previous post, removing an unsolicited advice .

However, before the model posted her own response to the shaming, many mothers came to her rescue.

'Woah. Kinda judgey there. I'm a huge huge breastfeeding advocate but there's no need to butt in on her personal choices,' one woman wrote of the other comments. I'm sure she has her reasons for not breastfeeding. [sic]'

And someone else noted: 'Some mothers can't breast feed because of health issues - I am one of them! Don't judge until you know someone's whole story. Women should support other women's choices no matter what their own choices or beliefs are! It's called feminism - look it up.'

Coco and her husband James Conran welcomed their daughter into the world on March 28, announcing the happy news on Twitter.
