He received one of the biggest laughs of the night for a sketch which saw him awarding himself an Emmy followed by an impassioned acceptance speech.

But it was back to the rigmarole of daily life for Ricky Gervais on Monday following his appearance at the annual award ceremony in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday.

The Office star had no trouble snapping back to reality as he continued to lap up the pursuits of LA life with his long-term partner Jane Fallon in tow.

Ricky, 54, cut a sporty figure in all-black gym kit which comprised knee-length shorts, a V-neck T-shirt and a pair of sturdy running trainers.

He attempted to disguise his face with a pair of blue-mirrored sunglasses as he and Jane stomped around their local neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, Jane donned a pair of blue turned-up jeans, a striped motif T-shirt and a pair of red Adidas trainers for the couple's low-key outing.

The couple seemed in fairly relaxed spirits as they opted for a gentle speed but the two-hour exercise session wreaked havoc with the multi-award winner's knee.

Ricky was seen sitting on a kerb nursing an aching kneecap with Jane by his side.

They refuelled on energy drinks before continuing on their way.

Ricky's sighting comes soon after he delighted the star-studded crowd that filled the Microsoft Theater in Downtown LA to discover who'd won what at the latest Emmys.

The Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb actor - who was nominated in the Outstanding Actor in a Mini Series or Movie category for his role as Derek in the programme of the same name -awarded himself an Emmy as he presented the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy award on Sunday.

'So take a picture,' he told the crowd, before adding: 'In fact, can I have an Emmy? Can I get an Emmy?'

An Emmy was then wheeled out, and he pretended to break into tears and pulled emotional faces as he urged the crowd to spread news of his win.

'So take a picture of that,' he said. 'Tweet that, and, uh, Bob's your uncle.'
