Birmingham and Wigan keen on Palacios

Birmingham are hoping to extend the loan stay of Honduran midfielder Wilson


Palacios joined Blues in the summer from Olimpia, initially for the first half of the season, and impressed when handed his first-team chance.

Previous City manager Steve Bruce was hoping to tie up a permanent deal for the

player (pictured above).

But the kidnapping of his brother Edwin in November - a situation which has yet

to be resolved - led to Palacios returning to Honduras for a spell.

He has not started a game since coming back to Birmingham although he came on

as a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Manchester United on New Year's Day.

New City boss Alex McLeish would like to assess Palacios by extending the loan

during the second half of the campaign.

But it is understood Bruce, now in charge of Wigan, is also monitoring the
