Manchester City's new green third kit unveiled by Nike... and was inspired by the historic 1999-00 play-off comeback victory against Gillingham at Wembley Stadium

- City will wear it for the first time when they travel to Sunderland
Manchester City have unveiled their new third kit for this season, as they take inspiration from a famous Wembley win.
The striking green shirt pays homage to City's comeback victory against Gillingham, back in the 1999-00 season, which saw them score two injury time goals and seal a 3-1 victory in the penalty shootout.
Manufacturers, Nike, described the kit as: 'A visually powerful football apparel designed with enhanced performance, on-pitch style and the culture of the club in mind.

Kevin de Bruyne modelled the neon Nike kit and City are preparing to wear it against Sunderland
'A black ombre graphic accentuates the striking green, blending from the cuffs of the short and shirt. During night games, this effect serves to accentuate the players’ physical presence underneath the floodlights. Black socks, with dark grey chevrons on the calf, further this powerful framing of body.'
New £54million signing Kevin de Bruyne modelled the full ensemble on Nike's website and City will wear the kit for the first time when they travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on September 22.
It wasn't always riches for City, who beat Gillingham to win the Second Division play-offs
Manuel Pellegrini's side have made a blistering start to the Premier League season, winning five out of five and playing some sensational football.
But their Champions League campaign went the other way, after throwing away a one-goal lead at home to Juventus.
Goals from Mario Mandzukic and Alvaro Morata sealed victory for the Serie A outfit, much to the disappointment of City, who controlled the game for long periods.
Maybe this neon kit can be the good luck charm City need to put an end to their recent European hoodoo.
The club crest was given a modern look but City wanted fans to feel nostalgic with the colour design
If fans are feeling nostalgic and want to relive the memories of the historic play-off final, then they can purchase the full kit on October 1 from www.nike.com.
