Utah woman with the voice of an angel sings her own version of Hallelujah with lyrics being about a mom... and now she's rightly famous
- Shannon Christensen Abbott posted clip singing Leonard Cohen’s song
- While she loves the song, she says original version's lyrics are 'weird'
- So the mother-of-two changed the lyrics to reflect her hectic life as a mom
- After going viral, Abbott said she is 'thrilled' by the song's online success
A Utah woman with the voice of an angel is a viral sensation after her version of ‘Hallelujah’ with lyrics about being a mom racked up more than two million views.
Shannon Christensen Abbott posted a clip of herself singing Leonard Cohen’s famous song on her Facebook page recently.
But she changed the lyrics to reflect her hectic lifestyle as a mother to young children, including: 'It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it.'

And just over a week later, the video has been viewed by 2.7million people on the social network.
Alongside the video, Abbott wrote: ‘I have always loved the song ‘Hallelujah’ but the lyrics to the original version are, well, weird!
‘So I changed them to fit my stay-at-home mommy life!’
After reaching two million views, Abbott took to Facebook again to say she is ‘thrilled’.
‘Unbelievable,’ she said. ‘I am thrilled and humbled that this silly little song that I wrote for a silly little talent show in teeny, tiny Payson, Utah, could bring so much joy to people around the WORLD.

Despite her massively viral video, Abbott says her life is still all about being a 'mommy,' adding she spends her days living a less than glamorous life looking after her children
‘It just goes to show that no matter where you are from, or what your background is, we all feel the power of music and the love we have for our sweet children.’
She added that while she is 'amazed' by the song's viral success, her life has yet to change.
'The past three days have been spent in my pjs with no makeup and messy hair, taking care of my two sick kiddos.
'In fact, today I wiped a million boogers and was pooped on. How's that for glamour!'
But she added that she 'would change any bit of it' - except perhaps the 'pooped on' part.
‘It just goes to show that no matter where you are from, or what your background is, we all feel the power of music and the love we have for our sweet children,’ she said
