A concerned mother was brought to tears by her daughter's appearance after her child used a 'wrinkle filter' to trick her into thinking she was rapidly aging.

Tumblr user unleashthememes used Snapchat's new 'Lenses' feature to dramatically age her skin in a selfie she sent to her mother, saying she didn't 'feel too well'.

The savvy daughter, who is named Megan, later shared her alleged text conversation with her mother on Tumblr, explaining: '[This is] what Snapchat caused'.

The unknowing mom first reacted to the image by telling her daughter that she looked 'awful', however, the longer she examined the photo the more her concern grew.

'Not much sleep lately?' she asked. 'I've never seen you like that. Please tell me that is make-up or something!'

The mom had an inkling that Megan had used make-up to achieve her aging appearance, and when her daughter failed to answer her text, she went on to beg her to confess to altering her photo in some way.

'What did you do to your face to make it look that way? Please tell me because I am crazy worried,' she wrote.

However, Megan continued to play coy and responded by asking: 'Do what to my face?'

Concerned mom: Megan shared photos of their text messages on Tumblr, explaining: '[This is] what Snapchat caused'

The mother quickly abandoned her tactful line of questioning and instead pointed out her daughter's apparent wrinkles and dark circles.

'Megan really? You look like you are about 65-years-old,' she told her.

But the daughter continued to maintain that nothing was done to her face, causing her mom to panic.

'Well, you need to go to the nurse because something awful is going on,' she said. 'Take a close look at the picture you sent me. Something's not right.'

At this point, the mother revealed that she had gotten her daughter's father involved.

'I sent them to you dad too,' she said. 'I need an explanation. 'I'm crying. Please tell me what you did.'

The image of their conversation has received more than 70,000 notes since it was posted to Tumblr on Saturday. However, it is unclear when - and if - Megan confessed to her trick.
