Is Fleur East the new Rihanna? Simon Cowell's X Factor favourite snapped up for top fashion campaign as she gets set to take music industry by storm

  • The 27-year-old won over Simon Cowell on last year's show
  • Has designed her own fashion collection in between recording music
  • Star follows in footsteps of Kardashians and Michelle Keegan

It's only been a year since she launched onto the scene as the chart-topping star of The X Factor, but now Fleur East can add fashion designer to her resume.

The 27-year-old, who won over Simon Cowell and co on last year's show, and who already has an iTunes UK number 1 has designed her debut fashion range - and models it all herself, of course.

Speaking about her autumn/winter 15 range, which was inspired by Pinterest and Instagram fashion stars, Fleur told FEMAIL: 'It’s very fresh and new. I wanted it to be trend and designer-led but at the same time affordable luxury, so you’ve got a lot of high-end influences but you can afford it on the high-street, which is amazing.'

Fleur says she would love to see the range, which is driven by separates and full of cosy knits, faux fur, and statement lacing, worn by her pop icon.

'The dream come true would have to be Rihanna, because I think she’s so ahead of the trends and her styles amazing,' she said.

The starlet is the latest in a string of celebrities to collaborate with Lipsy, following the likes of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, who teamed up for their sell-out Kardashian Kollection previously.

Fleur will also follow in the footsteps of former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan, whose line with the brand has also flown off the shelves.

As well as launching her range for Lipsy, Fleur has, of course, been busy making music in the recording studio, which she reveals is going 'very well.'

The singer spent much of the summer in Los Angeles where she was busy recording her debut album, which already has been given the thumbs up by her boss and X Factor mogul, Simon Cowell.

He told The Sun: 'I've heard it and it's world class. She has discovered who she wanted to be. Sometimes you just spot someone who's not obvious and Fleur's a good example of that.'

Speaking about her musical plans, she said: 'I’ve been recording in the UK and recording in LA with some amazing people.

'I’ve got my single and album launching; I’m currently deciding what songs are going to go on the final album, which I am finding to be very tough because there’s a lot of amazing songs. It’s a good problem to have but it’s going to result in a few tears I think.'

And Fleur is still in touch with her X Factor family, including Mr Simon Cowell, who she says is 'very involved and very supportive'.

'We actually have a Whatsapp group, so we update each other frequently and it’s really nice because everyone is releasing music and doing things so it’s nice to catch up,' she said of her co-stars.

And the future is certainly looking bright for the songstress, who is being likened to Rihanna and has some serious ambition.

'In five years' time, I will hopefully be on album number five and touring the world; fingers crossed!

'And If all goes well with fashion, hopefully another fashion line!'.
